Portland is really cute, and really small. You can walk to everything in town in less than 10 minutes which was also awesome, even though it was raining so hard all day Saturday. I will post our pictures later, but here is a little review. There is not much to do there besides eat and shop and there has to be at least 30 bars in walking distance which was pretty cool.
Where we stayed:
We stayed at the Regency downtown which was awesome. Loved the hotel. It is in the middle of downtown and they have a pool and hot tub and a big spa. Unfortch, I forgot my bag like a dumbass so I didn't have a bathing suit (or a hairbrush for that matter but whatever, it was one night).
The room was really nice and so was the staff, even when we called with drunk munchies at 2am looking for pizza. Also when we went to dinner they turned down the bed and put mints on the pillow. And left a pleasant reminder about Daylight Savings. And the valet was really nice and offered to run to the car in the rain when I left something in there (they don't have a parking garage so their lot is down the street).
Food:We ate so much while we were there. I am still full, seriously. We ate lunch at a place called Gritty McDuffs which was good. I just had a salad and Barron got mac and cheese. They make their own beer which was also awesome.
The bartender was really nice and told us that Soulive was in town and where to buy tickets and such. The weird thing about this restaurant was we ate lunch at 2pm and the bar was packed. I guess no one else had anything to do on a rainy day.
For din we went to RiRas, which I didn't realize has a bunch of locations throughout the country. Which kind of makes sense now that I think about it because it was kind of pricey. My favorite part of this restaurant was we were sitting by the window, and people were running all around with broken umbrellas and acting all crazy trying to get from their cars to where they were going.
Today we ate lunch at Gilberts Chowder House which was recommended to us. It was kind of gross though and they don't even give you real plates or anything, it was all disposable. It was packed but I failed to see the appeal. Also the chowder was kind of gross for a place with chowder in the title.
We also went to Sebago Brewing Company for a drink and did some shopping. I got some summer hippie clothes which was awesome, but spent far too much money in general. We had a lot of fun though, and it was nice to get out of Boston for a weekend. Thanks for a nice trip Barron! It was a lot of fun! I will post a Soulive review and pictures of us in the rain when I get them off the camera.
Peas!
