A Leave and a leave

Sorry that I have not been posting lately! My coworker is on paternity leave under the family leave act so I am busy busy busy as a bee at work. I am the only person addressing the housing issues of this state at this time. I occasionally notice something in my daily travels, like bad gym clothes, vigorous nose picking on the train, etc. I will try to store up all these things in my head and post because I know how interesting it is. I asked Brian to guest post in my absence but he is letting us all down! If anyone else wants a guest post, let me know!

Extended Album covers

There is a photoshop challenge on a website called "extending album art." People photoshop in what is happening beyond the borders of album art. Some of them are very interesting indeed!

Pound Puppies

Look at this lovely ad from the JC Penneys 1985 wish book. What a great Christmas! It is the Christmas where a $16.99 purchase would forever change my life. The description reads that you do not get to pick which color puppy you get to adopt, so it was truly fate that brought me and Pound Puppy together.

Each puppy comes with registration papers, a color, and an I.D. tag you can write on and name your puppy. The person I jacked this picture from named his puppy "Cocoa." He apparently was not creative enough to name his "Pound Puppy." What a loser.
I can't help but look at this full page add and wonder why no one bought me the official Pound Puppy rain slicker. "Dry doggie rain gear includes rain coat with hat and boots." ??!?!?! My poor Pound Puppie has been braving the elements all these years! And the hat even has holes for his little ears. Maybe I will knit him half a scarf this winter just like I do for all my other friends.

A Purple Bathroom

This 1973 catalog ad from Eaton's is my purple bathroom dream come true. A purple toilet seat? A purple bathroom scale?!? This woman is clearly living the life of luxury with all these hot commodities. I wish I could find out who designed these wonderful pieces and have them decorate my bathroom.

This is also what I picture Prince's bathroom to look like, but probably in a more royal purple shade. And maybe velvet bath curtains instead.

A google search has just revealed that Eaton's was once Canada's largest department store retailer but sadly went bankrupt in 1999. I suppose I will have to color coordinate at a different department store.

Lisa Frank made clothes?!?!?!

Anti-Drug pamphlet from the 1960s

Hey kids, watch out for that marihuana! It is known to cause hilarity, and no one wants that.

Also may increase appetite and desire for sweets...

Brian's new dog

I thought everyone would be interested in seeing Brian's new dog, Munchkin. Isn't she a doll?

How do I love Kevin Youkilis - Let me count the ways

This morning I had the good fortune of catching an interview with Kevin Youkilis during Hillman's show on WAAF. He talks baseball, dishes Dice-K, off-season with Manny, makes bets with Spaz, and it seems like this is a fairly regular thing for him to call in. But a few important things were learned:

- Kevin Youkilis enjoys listening to Phish

- The best grilled cheese Youk has ever had was at a Phish concert

- I am swoooning

So Youk, if you ever feel like hitting up a festival, I'm down. I hear the VIP section is nice. We can split a festi-grilled cheese.

Happy May Day!

I can't find any sufficient explanations for May Day. So here is a picture.
